to boost your bottom line

Government wage subsidies are currently available for workers in a number of industries and positions.

MyGovGrant is a free service and identifies any potential funding opportunities available for your organisation, helping support the cost of both new and existing employees.

The Australian Government is committed to supporting the development of skills labour across the country. They provide a range of financial incentives and benefits to employers and employees.

The wage subsidy incentive System will provide:

  • A wage subsidy for employers of apprentices and trainees in priority occupations. Employers in metropolitan locations can receive up to $15,000 paid over three years, while those in regional locations can receive up to $22,500 paid over the same period.
  • A direct payment of up to $1,250 every six months, for a maximum of two years, to apprentices and trainees in priority occupations. This payment, up to a total of $5,000, aims to help cover the cost of living expenses and support them in completing their apprenticeship or traineeship.
  • A hiring incentive of up to $1,750 for employers who hire apprentices or trainees in occupations not included on the Priority List. This amount is paid in two installments at six and 12 months after the commencement of the apprenticeship or traineeship, with a maximum value of $3,500.

Subsidies for Existing Workers

While many government incentives are based upon new hires, there are also a number of wage subsidies available for existing workers. In the case of existing workers, subsidies are typically based on engaging in a traineeship or other activity, allowing you to benefit from improved employee capability in addition to lower actual wage costs.

Double Benefits

Wage subsidies are tied to employee training and upskilling, however you may also be eligible for a training grant with up to 100% subsidy of course fees. This may be from a combination of State and Federal government support. MyGovGrant can help you navigate the complexity and ensure you are able to access the highest level of funding support applicable.

Additional Incentives

In addition to funded training and wage subsidies listed above, there are even incentives for employers of up to $3500 per new employee when enrolling into a traineeship. Both eligible new and existing employees can receive up to $5000 payment for undertaking a traineeship qualification in a recognised skill shortage area. In many cases, organisations can claim support from several government sources for the same employee.
